Mining and Dwarves Updates
Launch notes, demo-to-full differences, and where Sockhouse posts next.
Mining and Dwarves left the free demo and shipped as a full Steam game on 27 August 2026. Sockhouse Studios developed it; Aarimous and Thornity published it. The store app is 3987230. The demo remains listed as app 4070070, originally dated 10 June 2026. This hub is the patch-and-launch desk for that window — not a fake changelog of versions that were never posted.
As of launch week, Steam’s news feed for the game is short and official:
- 26 August 2026 — “10K Wishlists & Launch Tomorrow!” Sockhouse hit 10,000 wishlists with less than a day to go.
- 27 August 2026 — “Steam Deck Compatibility.” Valve had not finished Deck verification. Linux requirements still note a test on Steam Deck OLED 1TB. Full writeup: Steam Deck notes.
If you only read one follow-up page, read launch week. If you played in June and want to know what you paid for, read demo versus full. If the handheld badge is the question, read Steam Deck notes.
What launched
The full client is a single-player incremental with no prestige and no multiplayer. Steam Cloud is on. There are 22 achievements. The feature list on the store is the honest size of the game: satisfying incremental progression, a large skill tree, 5 dwarf types (demo had 2), 8 unique player abilities (demo had 4), and persistent progression instead of a wipe cycle.
An introductory 30% Steam discount runs through 10 September 2026. Steam localizes the currency; this wiki will not invent a USD sticker. Optional DLC exists: Mining and Dwarves: Supporter Pack (app 4963210), also dated 27 August 2026. It is not required to see the five dwarf types or eight abilities. Engine is Godot. Platforms are Windows, macOS, and Linux (SteamOS + Linux row lists a Steam Deck APU and the OLED test). Family Sharing is enabled on the store page.
Demo versus paid client
The demo is still the right first download if you are unsure. Launch-week reviews say that directly: if the demo loop does not click, the full tree probably will not convert you. The paid client is a bigger tree and a busier floor, not a different genre.
Concrete deltas that belong on the comparison page: two dwarf types and four abilities in June versus five types and eight abilities in August; more rock variety, pies, bigger rocks only the player mines, and more clutter; leftover skill locks that Sifd hit while 100%ing the demo. Those locks are the full game. Use demo versus full before you assume a Cloud save will sprout specialists by itself. You still need the paid app installed.
Review climate and official notes
Store scores moved between Mixed and Mostly Positive as the first ~40 reviews landed, roughly 69–71% positive. That is a small sample. Positive notes praise juice, Auto Click, cute dwarves, and AFK that still moves. Negative notes call the loop linear, the endgame a clutter slog, and the pie and big-rock extras more noise than depth. Both can be true for an incremental that does one screen well and then asks you to stay on it. Longer quotes belong on the review roundup.
Steam news for app 3987230 is the wishlist post and the Deck post. Store copy and the 22-achievement panel are the rest of the public facts. After launch week, track Deck verification, the 10 September discount ending, and any real Sockhouse patch notes. Do not log review guesses as patches, and do not invent version strings from YouTube titles. Gameplay routes belong on the walkthrough, not here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
When did Mining and Dwarves launch?
The full Steam game launched on 27 August 2026 (app 3987230). The free demo launched on 10 June 2026 (app 4070070). Details are on the launch week page.
Did the studio post patch notes on day one?
The public news feed around launch is the 10k-wishlist post (26 August) and the Steam Deck verification post (27 August), not a numbered patch list.
Is the demo still useful after launch?
Yes. Several launch reviews say to play the demo first; if that loop does not click, the full tree is unlikely to convert you. See demo versus full.
Where do I find official links and support?
Use the links hub. Press kit, itch, Steam, and the support address stefan@sockhousestudios.com are collected there.
Is Steam Deck verified?
Not at launch. Sockhouse posted that they were still waiting on Steam. Linux requirements mention a test on Steam Deck OLED 1TB. Details: Steam Deck notes.
I bought the game — what should I play first?
